Mountain Cross 7 mounted Frenchman takes a fine second place finish for Husqvarna E-Bicycles Racing on enduro debut in the French Pyrenees.
Husqvarna E-Bicycles Racing have kicked off their debut season in style, competing at the four-day King of Accous Enduro in the south west of France. Using the event as a great opportunity to dip a toe into competitive enduro waters for the first time this year, Alexandre Fayolle took on a stacked entry on his Mountain Cross 7, claiming an impressive runner-up result in the eMTB class.
The opening two days of practice gave a flavour of the eight stages and 2,600m of elevation to follow during the race weekend.
A strong start on the opening day showed Alex was quick to adapt to enduro. With some competitive stage times in the bank, Alex could feel a podium result or better was there for the taking on Sunday.
The Husqvarna E-Bicycles Racing rider headed into the final stage in contention for victory. Unfortunately, the clock didn’t stop in Alex’ favour, and despite his best efforts he just missed out on the top step of the podium, by only one-second.
All in, there was a lot of positives to take away from our very first weekend at the races. Fun times equal fast times and with some more experience under the team’s belts, we’re excited to see where Alex goes from here.
“It’s been an awesome weekend to be honest. For my first enduro I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’ve enjoyed myself, learned a lot, laughed a lot and won a trophy too. It’s been good to get some race time in on my Mountain Cross 7 with two practice days, eight big stages and plenty of climbing.
There was a lot of top riders here and the times were tight all weekend. To be only one second away from winning the eMTB category is great. Overall, I’m happy to get that first enduro under my belt and keep building towards the EWS-E.”
2021 marks the first season of competition for Husqvarna E-Bicycles Racing who will contest the four-round Enduro World Series eMTB category with Alexandre Fayolle on the Mountain Cross 7.
